Pelvic floor physiotherapy FAQs

What is pelvic floor physiotherapy?

Physio for the muscles inside the pelvis that support your bladder, bowel, sexual function and pelvic organs. It treats weakness or tension to restore normal function.

Is it covered by private insurance?

It's billed as physiotherapy, which most private plans cover. Check your own policy to confirm.

Are internal exams always performed?

No. You can always decline. Consent is required for any assessment or treatment, and external options are available.

When should I come in if I'm pregnant?

The recommended time for a first visit is after 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Do I need to shave before my appointment?

No. Treatment focuses on the muscles, so there's no need.

Do I need to cancel if I have my period?

No, it's up to your comfort. There's plenty we can work on without an internal exam.
